Central Coast Council stands as the third-largest water utility and sewage service in NSW, catering to 139,000 homes and businesses in a burgeoning region. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the resilience and security of the region's water supply system.

The Strategy Lead Water Conservation role resides in our new Water Resilience Team and involves planning, developing, and implementing water conservation programs to enhance the resilience and security of the Central Coast's water supply system.

Your responsibilities will involve a blend of analytics and building strong relationships with significant water users and regional water supply partners.

These endeavors align with the Central Coast Water Security Plan, which includes offering continual technical and management guidance on water demand forecasting and management programs. Additionally, the role must assess the optimal level of water conservation investments to be made.

This position necessitates delivering top-notch customer service and adding value to the community.

Key activities of this role include:

  • Developing water efficiency programs, implementing governance frameworks, performance measures, reporting standards, assessment tools, and systems to track, monitor, and report progress on milestones and objectives throughout the program lifecycle
  • Cultivating strong relationships with major water users to facilitate effective Water Efficiency Management Plans (WEMP)
  • Collaborating with the Communication and Engagement team to offer essential guidance on community-based water conservation activities and programs, targeting behavioral changes for water conservation and the increased utilization of non-potable water resources
  • Enhancing existing and creating new tools for water demand analysis and forecasting to steer future water planning, pricing submissions, and conservation efforts
  • Nurturing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, industry partners, water utilities, local government bodies, and more
  • Hold a Degree in Economics, Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or a related field, along with ongoing professional development
  • Possess a current Class C Driver's Licence
  • Experience in water resources operations and/or a solid understanding of the Urban Water Sector, especially concerning the urban water cycle and water demand forecasting methods
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, as well as negotiation abilities to communicate water conservation strategies to diverse audiences
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a knack for developing and enacting innovative solutions and embracing adaptive planning principles
  • Ability to lead small teams or collaborate within multi-disciplinary professional teams on project assignments

This role offers a starting salary ranging from $96.3k to $115.5k per year, depending on skills and experience, coupled with 11% superannuation and a weekly Vehicle Allowance.

Successful candidates may need to undergo vaccinations against certain diseases or prove their immunity.
