Located on the northern edge of Sydney and just an hour's drive from Newcastle, Central Coast offers a fantastic place to live and work, being one of the fastest-growing regions in NSW. Central Coast Council is a key player in water utility, serving 139,000 homes and businesses in the area, contributing significantly to the region's water supply system.

The Strategy Lead Water Conservation role, part of the Water Resilience Team, involves planning, developing, and implementing water conservation programs to enhance the region's water supply system's resilience and security.

You will engage in a mix of analytics and building strong relationships with major water users and regional water supply partners. This role aligns with the Central Coast Water Security Plan, providing technical advice on water demand forecasting and management programs.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement water efficiency programs with appropriate frameworks and tools
  • Build and maintain relationships with large water users to facilitate effective Water Efficiency Management Plans
  • Collaborate with communication teams to drive community-based water conservation initiatives
  • Enhance tools for water demand analysis and forecasting to inform future planning
  • Establish strong internal and external relationships in the water sector

Essential requirements:

  • Degree in Economics, Science, Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Valid Class C Driver's Licence
  • Experience in water resources operations and urban water sector knowledge
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead or work in multidisciplinary teams

This position offers a starting salary range of $96.3k to $115.5k per year plus superannuation and a Vehicle Allowance.
