Role Overview

As the Industrial Relations Manager you will be reporting to the General Manager of People and Culture Corporate Services, directly accountable for industrial relations strategies and frameworks across the organisation.

The Industrial Relations Manager will develop and implement:

  • An industrial relations strategy to effectively manage industrial relations risks to assist the organisation in achieving its objectives
  • Stakeholder and union engagement strategies
  • Policies, procedures, governance frameworks, toolkits and training related to industrial relations matters (investigations, disciplinary outcomes, performance management, etc.)

Working with the People and Culture leadership team, the position is required to maintain a strategic perspective of the entire business and take into account a wide range of longer-term issues, opportunities and risks to ensure ongoing business success.

Key Responsibilities

The Industrial Relations Manager will provide leadership to the Industrial Relations team, ensuring team members are provided with direction and attainable yet challenging performance targets. As well as the Industrial Relations Manager will have major areas of accountability across the following areas:

  • Strategy development and execution oversight
  • Development, management, and execution of frameworks
  • Delivery of industrial relations services
  • People Management
  • Industrial Relations

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

  • Experience in development of enterprise agreement negotiation strategies
  • Experience in leading negotiations for enterprise agreements
  • Experience working within a highly unionized workforce
  • Experience in developing industrial relations strategies for a large organisation
  • Extensive experience managing IR disputes, investigations and disciplinary outcomes
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to effectively resolve issues
  • Ability to influence applicable internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience developing and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, particularly with union organisations
  • Extensive knowledge of the relevant industrial instruments i.e. National Employment Standards, Fair Work Act, Enterprise Agreements, etc.)
  • You will hold Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Employment Law, Industrial Relations, or related discipline
