Future Energy Skills Limited (FES) is a not-for-profit entity established and funded by energy industry union/employer association/government collaboration to advance industry workforce and skills development initiatives to meet future electrotechnology, renewable energy, gas, and electrical industry workforce requirements through education and training initiatives.

The organisation's role is increasingly vital as the energy and electrotechnology sector is facing several, widely reported challenges as the nation pivots toward a renewable and sustainable energy future and strives to manage the transformation, associated rapid technological advances, and to bridge the evident workforce and skills gap.

Significantly, Future Energy Skills mandate is to:

  • Provide informed, strategic advice to government and industry stakeholders on workforce and skills development requirements encompassing matters of education, training policy, research requirements and priorities for funding allocation. In this regard, FES facilitates dialogue between industry stakeholders and government bodies by coordinating the Industry Advisory Group (IAG) for the energy sector under the purview of the Victorian Skills Authority (VSA).
  • Identify and develop relevant, research-informed projects, and submissions.

In this new role, the Strategic Development and Engagement Manager will spearhead the proactive engagement, representation, and collaboration effort on behalf of Future Energy Skills to enhance/promote its profile and capability; and maintain/develop key stakeholder relationships in the pursuit of new, relevant research and workforce development projects.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, the key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Develop and drive implementation of key engagement and partnership strategies, playing a vital communication role with all relevant industry, government, regulatory and education sector stakeholders.
  • Lead client/project pursuit and acquisition efforts contributing to sustainable project pipeline and revenue objectives.
  • Represent Future Energy Skills at relevant conferences, industry events and forums to contribute to thought leadership, showcase capabilities, raise brand awareness and industry position.
  • Working collaboratively with the Victorian Skills Authority, attend, support and facilitate Industry Advisory Group (IAG) and sector advisory meetings.
  • Source and analyse market intelligence and data to inform, contribute to and support the establishment of IAG work plans.

You will require a proven track record in strategic business development and engagement roles in pursuit of new business opportunities. Your background will have professional services/advocacy/thought leadership, and ideally, an education/workforce development orientation. The ability to position an organisation strategically, develop/present winning proposals, manage collaborative partnerships and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements is required.

Your experience will be underpinned by relevant tertiary qualifications in business, strategic development, marketing, research, resource management or similar. Post graduate studies would be well regarded as would completion of Prince 2 project management qualification.
