HOBAN Recruitment are working with a Local Council who are seeking a Strategic Projects Officer located in Broadmeadows VIC on an initial 4 month assignment (with high possibility to extend).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to development and implementation of key strategic projects for the City Life Department, including strategies, policies, programs, projects, and events, to support the achievement of identified departmental and/or team objectives.
  • Partner with the City Life leadership team to provide strategic advice and actively drive Department initiatives and outcomes.
  • Maintain a highlevel understanding of key internal or external issues that could impact the City Life Department, including implications arising from changes to legislation, regulation, policies, and strategies, ensuring the Manager is aware of key risks or opportunities
  • Build collaborative and respected relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance strategic priorities and resolve complex issues.
  • Represent the City Life Department in cross business projects and cross functional teams and various internal and external forums as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • C Class Drivers Licence


 Project Management
  • Development and implementation of key strategic projects in services / operations in: Leisure, Libraries, Community Centres and Venues and Arts, Culture and Events.


 Writing/preparing
  • Reports, Strategies, Policies and official correspondence in a local government/governmental setting
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive experience in community services planning and policy, project management, local government, or a related community service orientated industry.
  • A demonstrated 'customer first' orientation with highly developed consultation, facilitation, presentation, liaison and influencing skills.
  • A team player with experience providing strategic advice and collaborating to and actively drive the delivery of key initiatives and outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in community services planning and policy, including analysing and investigating existing and emerging issues and providing strategic advice and recommendations.
  • Highly developed organisational and time management skills, including the ability to operate effectively in complex and time sensitive environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, influencing, and implementing public policy and longterm strategies.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Willing to undertake and maintain a current National Criminal Records Check and Working With Children Check
