We are looking for an experienced Support Worker to join our friendly Home Care team in the Eastern suburbs region of Melbourne.

About the role

As a Support Worker with Southern Cross Care, you will assist older Australians to enhance their quality of life while staying in their own homes.

Your responsibilities will include building strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific needs and preferences, and providing personalized support with daily tasks, activities, personal care, and mobility assistance.

You will contribute to your clients' well-being by offering services such as:-

  • Personal care
  • Cleaning & Laundry
  • Shopping
  • Meal Preparation
  • Transport and at-home exercise support

You will have access to excellent learning opportunities and support for your professional growth. Additionally, you will receive a motor vehicle allowance for client visits, a complete working tool kit, and a mobile phone.

About you

We are seeking individuals who will make a positive impact on the lives of our residents and clients.

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Certificate III in relevant field (Individual Support, Aged Care, or Home and Community Care)
  • Valid driver's licence and access to a registered and insured vehicle
  • Proven experience in personal care roles with minimal supervision
  • Proficient personal care skills suitable for the role
  • Understanding of providing support to dementia patients, including those with challenging behaviors
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Capability to establish positive connections with clients and their families
  • Basic cooking proficiency
  • Senior First Aid certification - preferable
  • Knowledge of aged care packages - preferable
