Disability Support Worker


Disability Support Work involves assisting a range of clients with a variety of needs in a number of different ways.


The Organisation
My Supports is a well-established NDIS support provider with over 500 staff across five states.

The Role

Working in Neighbourhood Teams in your very own community, under the direction of a Neighbourhood Team Leader, the Support Worker assists and supports our clients, in line with their NDIS plan, to achieve their goals through a person-centred approach of 'choice and control'.


Day to day duties may include (but are not limited to)

  • Assisting clients to complete and/or develop lifeskills in household duties and yard/home maintenance, such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, budgeting etc;
  • Transporting clients to appointments and/or shopping for and/or with client;
  • Assisting clients in building client selfimage and selfconfidence;
  • Assisting clients in social and community participation;
  • Promoting independence and wellbeing;
  • Assisting clients with personal care and manual handling; including showering and bowel care;
  • Medical administration (if qualified);
  • Administration, e.g. daily journal reporting;
  • Working within the NDIS guidelines and escalate relevant information to Team Leaders.
  • An enthusiastic outlook, and a very open, friendly, bubbly personality;
  • A compassionate and empathetic demeanour;
  • Strong listening and oral communication skills and patience;
  • Strong relationshipbuilding skills;
  • The ability to maintain clear professional boundaries;
  • A NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Quality, Safety and You) Certificate of Completion
    (essential);
  • NDIS Workers Screening Check
    (essential);
  • Valid Working with Children Check (desirable)
    ;
  • A C class license, access to a reliable vehicle and comprehensive insurance
    ;
  • Experience with Personal Care (Desirable)
  • Relevant qualification in PEG feeding (Desirable)

The locations for work will vary depending on the client(s) and their needs within the area. We are recruiting for the South Adelaide Region.
