About the role
St Mary's College, Ipswich is seeking a Student Wellbeing Officer to join them for Term One of 2024. This is a government funded position and therefore may be extended past the initial fixed-term.
In this role, the successful applicant will:
- Work as a member of a team that supports students in strengthening their relationships and community connections
- Assist the school community to look after the personal needs of students through the provision of general personal advice
- Empower young people and their families, by fostering connections with outside agencies, being an advocate and running programs for those who are disadvantaged or disconnected
- Contribute to the pastoral care of students and related wellbeing services offered by the school in consultation with the student support team and School Leadership
- Refer students and families requiring more complex assessment and support to the Guidance Counsellor and/or external agencies
- Provide support and guidance about ethics, values, relationship issues; the provision of student welfare, and enhancing engagement with the broader community.
To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:
- Demonstrate previous study in the area of Social Work or Counselling would be considered highly advantageous
- Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement
- Be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education
