Yarra Libraries is an innovative and progressive inner city library service and we are currently seeking an energetic and motivated professional to join the Customer Experience team.

Yarra Libraries' has a temporary opportunity for an experienced library staff member who is an excellent communicator (verbal and written), very organised with attention to detail, and with experience supporting day to day operations of a branch.


This position includes rostered desk shifts at Richmond Library but you may be required to work at other branches, remotely and from outreach locations.


Key responsibilities include:

Rostering and Operations

  • Facilitate and oversee the development and maintenance of library service rosters in accordance with Yarra Libraries standards, practices and procedures.
  • Arrange for the fill of branch staff and emergency shifts on a daily basis (Monday-Friday).
  • Maintain roster documentation including current roster, record of emergency relief staff, and preparation of new roster documentation in a timely manner.
  • Create roster timelines calendar and working roster procedures calendar
  • Communicate roster issues and concerns to the Team Leader Customer Experience/Coordinator Resources and Technology

Customer Service

  • Performing a range of rostered library operations that support customers in a selfservice environment based on a high level of knowledge of library products and services, including circulation and collection maintenance duties
  • Effectively implementing Yarra Libraries policies and procedures
  • Support the administration of Oracle requests and Yarra Libraries' mailbox.
  • Supporting the Team Leader Customer Experience and Branch Team Leader with duties as required.
