Keen to be lead and continuously improve the PMO at Australia's health practitioner regulator? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced PMO Manager with a back ground in project and change management to work with our nationally dispersed teams to support the delivery of strategic projects.


The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals.

The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered.

About the role


Reporting to the Director PMO, this role offers the opportunity for an experienced PMO Manager to join the team and manage the PMO project portfolio management functions across Aphra's strategic projects.

This includes maintaining and continuously improving the portfolio, project and change management methodologies and tools. In addition you will lead an exciting project to introduce Project Portfolio management system(s) into the organisation.

In this role you will:

  • Maintain and coordinate the Enterprise Strategic Project Portfolio register and dashboard and ensure all projects are captured, information is kept up to date and regular and timely reporting is provided to agreed forums
  • Assist project and change managers in the use of the methodologies and tools including navigating the project life cycle including stage gate approvals
  • Analyse project data, conduct quality checking and prepare project portfolio status, reporting and dashboards for key strategic projects
  • Coordinate and support Ahpra's project management governance forums with accurate and timely information and documentation
  • Lead the project to build and embed project portfolio management system(s)

About you


You will have proven previous PMO, project and change management experience and have well developed interpersonal skills and exceptional stakeholder management skills.


In addition to this you will have:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business or Project/Change Management or equivalent working experience
  • Training or certification in one or more project/change methodologies or working towards achieving certification
  • PMO experience specifically: Project Portfolio management and project register maintenance Portfolio Status Reporting Management, development of PMO processes and procedures
  • Ability to capture complex information decipher, filter and display for governing forums
  • Experience in developing and implementing processes, tools and systems
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting business and technology project managers to follow project and change methodologies, tools and requirements
  • Project Governance and Project and Change Management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with Project Managers, sponsors, owners and other stakeholders involved in the delivery of projects
