Key Outcomes and Accountabilities

The aim of this role is to:

  • Undertake protracted and complex investigations, including:
  • Reviewing of available intelligence and complaint information;
  • Appropriately scope investigations, taking into consideration factors such as industry risk and regulatory impact;
  • Development of investigation plans;
  • Taking of witness statements;
  • Conducting records of interview;
  • Preparation of briefs of evidence;
  • Liaising with QBCC legal officers;
  • Giving evidence in court and administrative proceedings.
  • Assist the Director Compliance and Enforcement to lead and manage the operation of the team, including:
  • Provision of advice concerning investigations;
  • Providing staff with appropriate direction, guidance, training and assistance;
  • Interpret legislation, codes, standards, policies, guidelines and practices related to investigations and provide high level written and verbal advice as required.
  • Preparation of papers and providing inperson updates as required for the QBCC's committees and statutory bodies including, but not limited to, the QBC Board, Regulatory and Resolution Committee.
  • Communicate and negotiate, both in writing and verbally, with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Implement policies and projects relating to investigations.
  • Provide exceptional service to all internal and external stakeholders of the QBCC.
  • Provide support and advice to the Director Major Investigations, as required.
  • Demonstrated ability in conducting and managing complex investigations resulting in criminal and administrative outcomes.
  • Highlevel experience in developing, implementing and managing organisational initiatives to effect improvement within the workplace.
  • Proven leadership and management skills including the demonstrated ability to successfully lead and provide guidance to junior investigators.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain operational networks and partnerships, with a wide variety of key internal and external stakeholders with conflicting priorities.
  • Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including compilation of comprehensive reports, along with mediation and negotiation skills with particular emphasis on managing the investigation process and related matters.
Highly Desirable

  • Extensive investigative experience in law enforcement and/or regulatory environments, including experience with giving evidence in Court as an investigator.
  • Possession of an investigationbased qualification.
