Overview:


The Adult Safeguarding Practitioner position is situated within the Adult Safeguarding Unit, Office for Ageing Well, and is accountable to the Senior Adult Safeguarding Practitioner for undertaking comprehensive assessments and providing service and case coordination to ensure that the rights and freedoms of vulnerable adults are upheld, in particular through the establishment and day to day operation of the Adult Safeguarding Unit.


The Adult Safeguarding Practitioner will contribute to stakeholder engagement with key representatives from across government and non-government sector to identify needs and support the development and implementation of the Adult Safeguarding Unit (ASU) agreed outcomes and deliverables.


Describe four primary job tasks and responsibilities of the job:

  • Assist with the management of the Adult Safeguarding Unit Phone Line, including receiving and triaging reports of suspected abuse of vulnerable adults as well as providing advice/information to community and service providers where appropriate.
  • Undertake assessments and investigations into reports of abuse of vulnerable adults to explore abuse concerns and develop safeguarding strategies and actions.
  • Work with adults who may be considered vulnerable to implement appropriate safeguards to prevent further abuse/neglect.
  • Provide community education to providers and community regarding signs/types of abuse, prevention, and role of the Adult Safeguarding Unit.
