Position in context

Reporting to the Head Digital, the Content & Communications Specialist is a member of the Development & Communications Team.

This role is formally based in South Melbourne.

We support our staff to work flexibly, both in location and hours, based on the premise that work will remain the focus of any arrangement.

How and where you work is discussed with each staff member based on individual circumstances, role requirements and accountability for the delivery of high-quality work.


As a key member of the Content team, the Content & Communications Specialist is responsible for developing engaging and effective communications for a specific portfolio of programs and activities, and works closely alongside another Content & Communications Specialist who is responsible for a different portfolio of programs and activities.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Write, review and plan content for portfolio areas for use across the Foundation's channels ensuring all communications have a consistent tone of voice, are strengthsbased, and adhere to our brand DNA and key messages.
  • Produce content for social media, eDMs, web, and other channels including articles, case stories, short form videos, and visual content and infographics to engage and inspire our key audiences to take action, generate leads, and conversion.
  • Translate complex concepts into consumerfriendly and audiencecentric content for our fundraising, advocacy, and broader marketing campaigns to create cutthrough of our key messages.
  • Develop communications collateral for portfolio areas to support their engagement with key stakeholders and audiences including delivery partners and funders.
  • Work closely with their counterpart Content & Communications Specialist to coordinate, plan and execute the content and social media calendar ensuring a consistent and cohesive brand narrative across all content and an optimal posting schedule.
  • Liaise with internal clients to develop project plans to deliver digital, social media, and multimedia content for programs, fundraising and corporate communications.
  • Develop and maintain the Foundation's content bank including case studies, photography and videos.
  • Work closely with the Supporter Engagement and Development Teams to create engaging and effective fundraising copy, impact stories, and case studies to deliver on income generation KPIs.
  • Create, curate, and repurpose content for social media audiences to drive traffic to our website including images, captions, videos, shareables and stories.
  • With the Content & Communications Specialist, monitor and engage with the Foundation's social media audiences, respond to comments, moderate conversations, manage the social media inboxes, and address concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Plan, capture, curate, and livepost content at Foundation events including collaboration with external partnership teams.
  • Participate in and contribute to plans, creative brainstorms, campaign activations, weekly content meetings, and other organisational planning sessions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create and execute marketing and social media campaigns to support the achievement of the Foundation's strategy.
  • Stay up to date with the latest content, marketing, and social media trends, features, and best practices and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Undertake outofhours social media monitoring on rostered days.
  • Contribute positively to the Foundation's culture of "we are stronger together" through developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues.
  • Work with people leader to develop and successfully execute a personal work plan that is aligned with the strategic objectives of the Foundations to meet key deliverables.
