Reporting into the GM of People & Culture, the Head of Risk, Safety & Wellbeingwill play a critical role in providing strategic leadership to shape the safety culture and direction for the Myer business.

Adopting forward-looking safety thinking and leveraging insights from data analysis, industry trends, and emerging technologies, the role will evolve the Myer Safety Management System, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness for the business, guiding Myer to mitigate risks effectively.

The role will lead the Risk, Safety & Wellbeing team in supporting the business through proactive risk management, delivery of effective injury and claims management programs to minimise the cost of workplace injuries and maximise the value of our self-insurance licences.

About the role:
Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive safety strategy and associated processes aligned with organisational goals and industry best practices; identify key safety priorities and establish measurable objectives to drive continuous improvement
Stay abreast of evolving safety trends, regulations, and technologies to provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership and the board; champion a forward-thinking approach to safety that anticipates future health and safety risks and opportunities
Provide engaging safety performance reporting to the Executive Management Team and provide advice on health and safety issues, trends and risks; make recommendations for management of risk exposures
Oversee an effective safety management system that meets regulatory and self-insurance compliance requirements
Establish a comprehensive framework for the assessment of safety risks that identifies potential hazards and establishes effective control opportunities across all aspects of operations; collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop proactive risk mitigation strategies
Lead the development of engaging safety training programs and workshops to raise safety capability at all levels, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability
Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant safety regulations, standards, and compliance requirements and implement the monitoring frameworks that will ensure organisational compliance and governance including maintenance of self-insurance licences
Design and implement performance monitoring and reporting programs that provide insight into organisational safety performance and promotes accountability
Lead the Risk and Safety team to achieve safety targets (in conjunction with store leadership teams)
Identify key external relationships and develop partnerships which deliver on Myer business objectives.

About you:
Tertiary qualifications in health and safety, management or related discipline
Highly developed knowledge, understanding and application of health and safety and compensation schemes in a multi-jurisdictional self-insured environment
Extensive and demonstrable experience in successful development and implementation of workplace health and safety strategy
Extensive management experience up to Board level
Experience in Executive engagement with a high Ievel of interpersonal, communication, influence and negotiation skills
A dynamic, aspirational people leader & change agent with strong interpersonal skills who can work across the business as well as across multiple projects, both internally and externally
