Please note:

Due to Machinery of Government changes under Section 30 of the Public Administration Act (PPA), effective 1 January 2023, your employment will be with the Department of Transport and Planning.

Corporate Services, including payroll, will be provided by Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action while a process for the formal transfer of staff in impacted areas is implemented.

The Manager, Safer Buildings Strategy will lead and manage a team responsible for delivering both complex policy projects and rapid policy advice related to the building and plumbing industries with a focus on the safety of Victoria's building stock.

The Manager will work across the division including to implement relevant work underway through the Expert Panel Review, to collaborate with the Intergovernmental Team on relevant national policy issues and with the Cladding Oversight and Governance Branch to understand common defects identified in cladding rectification works.

Key areas of focus for include work around a national product assurance framework, essential safety measures, building maintenance and fire policy.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
Mandatory

  • Sophisticated understanding of government and demonstrated experience in the management and successful delivery of complex projects in a multistakeholder environment is required.
Desirable

  • A tertiary qualification in public policy, economics, law or relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Technical qualifications including engineering or building surveying.
  • Public policy development experience and expertise in a complex stakeholder.
  • Knowledge of buildings and relevant regulatory schemes.
This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2024. The work location for this position is 150 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne.
