The Opportunity:

is looking for a dynamic, passionate and driven Reporter to write breaking state and national news and original features. This is a 12-month contract role that can be based anywhere in Australia.

Reporting to the Deputy Editor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing compelling digital copy, including exclusives and breaking news, by sourcing accurate information.
  • Establishing excellent relationships with 7NEWS colleagues, including Journalists, Social Media Managers/ Producers, Chiefs of Staff and News Directors to ensure efficient, accurate and comprehensive coverage of news items.
  • Sourcing and producing eye-catching and compelling imagery and video to complement, reinforce and strengthen coverage of news.

About You:

You will have a passion for journalism and a drive to deliver accurate and compelling stories, a track record of producing reliable journalism and possess a keen understanding of what resonates with digital audiences nationwide.

You will have:

  • Have proven experience as a News Reporter.
  • Experience using a CMS with a working knowledge of SEO practices.
  • Have excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and under tight deadlines and juggle conflicting priorities
