About NOPTA – the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator

The National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) oversees the administration of petroleum and greenhouse gas titles in Commonwealth waters in Australia. It serves as the primary point of contact for offshore titles administration. Additionally, the Offshore Infrastructure Registrar manages licenses for offshore renewable energy projects in Australian Commonwealth waters. Staff supporting the Registrar are based within NOPTA.

The Opportunity

Join us in the rapidly advancing offshore greenhouse gas storage industry. NOPTA is hiring for positions that involve working on GHG storage and petroleum technical advice, developing new guidance, building databases, and analyzing data. Available positions include:

  • Development Engineer
  • Senior Geoscientist/Geophysicist
  • Geoscientist/Geophysicist
  • Geoscience and Engineering Data Analyst

Our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals ready to embrace the challenges of an innovative organization. The ideal candidate will align with the APSC Work Level standards for EL1 or EL2 positions and demonstrate:

  • Industry experience in offshore engineering or geoscience
  • Effective communication skills and project leadership abilities

Desired qualities include the ability to interpret and apply legislation, ensure regulatory compliance, and provide expert advice to decision-makers.

Development Engineer (EL2)

  • Experience in managing technical staff and strategic planning
  • Petroleum-related engineering background

  • Experience in field development and management plans, cost estimation, and economic evaluation
