We are seeking a Sustainability Officer to support our company globally in providing high quality, timely and realistic environmental and sustainability support. This position will report directly to the General Manager.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing and Implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Policies and Procedures across all business operations.
  • Managing Climate Strategy, including annual reporting.
  • Create, implement, and report on initiatives aimed at reducing the company's carbon footprint and environmental impact.
  • Stay informed about global ESG legislation and emerging trends and assess the potential impact on the company and devise strategies to address these changes.
  • Communicate insights effectively to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
  • Ensure suppliers and manufacturers adhere to sustainable and ethical standards such as BSCI and GRS.
  • Work towards obtaining and maintaining certifications such as GRS (Global Recycled Standard), CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), SBTi (Science Based Targets initiative), and APCO (Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation).
  • Cultivate partnerships and collaborations that promote sustainability initiatives.
  • Explore sustainability aspects of new materials and packaging strategies in the market.
  • Conduct life cycle assessments on product and packaging materials to ascertain their environmental impact.
  • Oversee and guide philanthropic efforts aligning with the company's sustainability goals.
  • Identify and support programs that contribute positively to the community and environment.

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in a similar Sustainability role with 3+ years' experience, with a passion for driving results and delivering outcomes.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or similar related field is desired but not compulsory.
  • Sustainability experience at a consumer goods related business would be favourable.
  • Understanding commercial and business acumen.
  • Excellent research, analytical, report writing skills and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Planning, organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with data collection, analysis and tracking to metrics.
  • Ability to understand and interpret regulations and standards.
  • Good decision-making, influencing, presentation and negotiation skills as well as a passion for sustainability and a positive can-do attitude.
  • Excellent Microsoft Suite skills such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Take initiative to identify and anticipate business needs and make recommendations for implementation.
