Director (Research and Technology Assessment)Lead strategic policy, programs and advice to support health and medical research, grow the health sector and support innovation that ultimately leads to better healthcare and health outcomes for Queenslanders.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity located in Brisbane CBD.

The Director, Research and Technology Assessment will be responsible for the development of strategic policy, programs and advice to support health and medical research, grow the health sector and support innovation that ultimately leads to better healthcare and health outcomes for Queenslanders.

This role will also lead the implementation and development of initiatives under the HEALTH32 – Research Strategy to build Queensland's health and medical research capacity, boost collaboration and support the growth of knowledge-based jobs in the sector.

Challenges for the role include the ability to navigate the health system, coupled with the requirement to prioritise and manage 'hot issues' and be flexible in the management of high-volume requests of information and high-level policy projects.

The successful person
To be successful in this role you will have:

Whilst not mandatory, a relevant qualification such as a Doctor of Philosophy in a relevant healthcare or biomedical discipline is highly desired.

Significant experience in developing strategies, policies, and programs to support health and medical research.

Proven ability to provide timely, accurate and responsive advice and information – both high-quality written briefings and verbal presentations to executives.

Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise, mediate and negotiate with all levels of staff and with a range of external stakeholders in a sensitive and confidential manner.

Excellent strategic, critical thinking and project solving skills, displaying sound judgement in a high activity environment as well as an ability to understand and respond to government priorities.

This will be achieved through engagement of clinical researchers and other research partners, leveraging of industry opportunities, and translating research achievements into improved health outcomes for patients.
