Who are we looking for?


Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Research Fellow in Industrial-Internet-of-Things Service Computing, School of Information Systems, Faculty of Science to join School of Information Systems, Faculty of Science, Academic Division.


We are looking for a creative and capable postdoctoral researcher to help us develop new ideas for integrating Enterprise System software services into Industrial Internet of Things environments.

The project, funded by an Australian Research Council Discovery Project grant, is developing new ways of redeploying large-scale Enterprise System tasks as multiple, lightweight microservices that can operate close to "edge" computing devices, thereby reducing communication overheads and increasing computational responsiveness.

This exciting role will be part of the School of Information Systems' Service Computing team at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia.

What you need to succeed

You will demonstrate:

  • Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant Information Technology or Engineering discipline, such as software engineering, service computing, cloud/fog computing, the InternetofThings, industrial control systems, etc.
  • Experience with modern businessoriented software engineering principles and microservicebased computing architectures.
  • Experience with computer networking and InternetofThings communication systems.
  • Demonstrated general understanding of Information Technology service provision and industrial system Operational Technology.
  • Ability to design, implement and assess nontrivial solutions to computing problems, through software simulation and/or practical experimentation.
  • Demonstrated academic research experience as evidenced by publications in high quality research journals and/or high quality research presented at relevant conferences.
