Director (Research and Technology Assessment)

  • Lead strategic policy, programs, and advice to support health and medical research, grow the health sector, and foster innovation for better healthcare and health outcomes for Queenslanders.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Brisbane CBD. The Director of Research and Technology Assessment will oversee the development of strategic policies, programs, and advice to advance health and medical research, enhance the health sector, and foster innovation for improved healthcare and health outcomes in Queensland.

  • Lead the implementation and development of initiatives under the HEALTH32 – Research Strategy to strengthen Queensland's health and medical research capabilities, promote collaboration, and facilitate the growth of knowledge-based jobs.

The role includes navigating the health system, prioritizing 'hot issues,' managing high-volume information requests, and handling high-level policy projects with flexibility.

The Successful Candidate

To excel in this role, you should:

  • Hold a relevant qualification like a Doctor of Philosophy in a healthcare or biomedical discipline (not mandatory but highly desired).
  • Demonstrate significant experience in crafting strategies, policies, and programs to support health and medical research.
  • Showcase a proven ability to deliver timely, accurate, and valuable advice through well-crafted written briefs and engaging verbal presentations to executives.
  • Possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff at all levels and external stakeholders discreetly.
  • Display excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, sound judgment, and responsiveness to government priorities in a dynamic setting.
