The Opportunity:

  • Lithgow City Council _has an exciting opportunity for a
    Trainee Records Officer to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.


Reporting to the Senior Records Officer, you will support and contribute to the efficient and effective provision of consistently high quality records information management services while completing a Certificate IV in Recordkeeping.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Assist to maintain the capture, retention, storage, retrieval, disposal, protection and preservation of Council records and archives in accordance with the State Records Act NSW 199
  • Undertake the accurate opening, sorting, coding, scanning (using A4/A3 and AO plan scanners), summarising, registration, tasking, storing, distribution of incoming correspondence and internal mail
  • To collect and distribute records to all Internal locations on a regular basis
  • To provide quality customer service to internal and external customers
  • Ensure levels of service for the Records Unit are maintained and met
  • Ensure preservation of confidentiality at all times

  • Higher School Certificate and willingness to undertake formal training in Recordkeeping
  • Commitment to the two year time period required to complete the traineeship.
  • Ability to read and accurately summarise document content
  • Excellent customer service focus skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Work Health and Safety
  • Demonstrated Commitment to the principles of honesty and integrity

  • Between $776.10 and $ per week, commensurate with your age, skills, qualifications and experience.
  • Temporary Fulltime, 2 year traineeship, 35 hours per week
