Payroll Officer

**The Opportunity**:
Lithgow City Council has an exciting opportunity for a **Payroll Officer** to join their team in Lithgow, NSW.

Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating the timely preparation and processing of Council’s weekly pay cycle in accordance with Council’s policies, procedures and relevant legislative and taxation requirements. The Payroll Officer is also responsible for preparing and processing superannuation contributions for all Council employees and processing any approved salary sacrifice deductions as per Council’s standard working procedure.

More specifically, your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

- Prepare and process Council's payroll function; including the coordination and production of a weekly payroll, ensuring Council complies with all relevant award, taxation and legislative requirements
- Maintain Council’s Payroll System and Employee records; including the processing of payroll adjustments including rates of pay, hours of work, deductions, bank accounts, tax details, cost allocation details, personal details, workers compensation reimbursements
- Prepare superannuation on a weekly basis for employee’s personal contributions
- Prepare calculations for employee termination pays in accordance with relevant tax rulings
- Maintain the salary sacrifice process in accordance with Council’s standard working procedure
- Process Payment summaries at the end of each financial year via Single Touch Payroll.
- Develop the Rostered Day Off roster for indoor staff at the beginning of each calendar year.

**About you**:

- Minimum of two years experience in the end-to-end payroll process
- Thorough knowledge of employment conditions, superannuation and taxation requirements
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience processing electronic timesheets and reports
- Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines
- Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Excellent communication skills including both verbal and written communication
- Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of Work Health and Safety
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of honesty and integrity
- An understanding of the Local Government State Award
- Experience using Payroll specific software such as Technology One CiAnywhere
- Experience in the co-ordination of salary packaging and employment contracts
