An exciting opportunity has become available for suitably qualified and experienced Psychologists/Social workers/Occupational Therapists/Registered Nurses to join The Geelong Clinic as the Coordinator of the LEAP and/or PREP eating disorder inpatient program/s.


Located on the fringe of Geelong's CBD, The Geelong Clinic is a 73 bed private mental health hospital recognized for its provision of dedicated psychiatric care since 1998.

The Geelong Clinic programs have been developed by health professionals in collaboration with consumers and are based on a philosophy centred on:

- _Individualised treatment _- recognizing that recovery from an eating disorder takes time and the path is different for everyone


The Eating Disorder Program (EDP) at The Geelong Clinic is one of the most highly respected programs of its kind in Australia, and consumers are waitlisted to participate.


LEAP Program Coordinator - 0.4 FTE


Learning to Eat at Peace (LEAP) is a 40-day inpatient program that has been treating people with all types of eating disorders for more than 20 years.

LEAP offers individualized evidence-based treatment that is adapted to the patient's unique experience and eating disorder concerns.

Both group and individual therapy are offered to patients in LEAP.

Weekly groups range in content and approach, including, psychology-based groups, nutrition, art therapy, yoga and gentle movement, music therapy, as well as mindfulness and relaxation.

Fortnightly individual therapy is also offered with a psychiatrist and the LEAP Co-ordinator.


The PREP Coordinator will ensure the smooth running of the program including supporting/supervising group facilitators, participating in a weekly ward round with the treating team, and providing group therapy where needed.

The LEAP Coordinator will work in a multidisciplinary team based approach and be supported by other experienced mental health professionals.


PREP Program Coordinator - 0.4 FTE


Proactive Recovery Enhancement Program (PREP) is a 40-day inpatient program that supports those who have already begun their journey of recovery and to helps to consolidate skills in replacing eating disorder behaviours with a greater sense of autonomy.

It also focuses on supporting patients to learn new life skills to move towards living a more fulfilled life.

PREP is for those who are ready to take on more responsibility as they move towards recovery.

This includes assistance in challenging themselves with tasks designed to expand their ability to budget, shop, prepare, cook and eat food.

Treatment is tailored to the individual and their particular vulnerabilities and strengths, with an emphasis on the whole person and their unique history.

Both group and individual therapy is provided to the patients in PREP. Weekly groups include exposure therapy (e.g., grocery shopping), psychotherapy, healthy movement and exercise. Individual therapy involves fortnightly sessions with a psychiatrist and the PREP Coordinator.


The PREP Coordinator will ensure the smooth running of the program including supporting/supervising group facilitators, participating in a weekly ward round with the treating team, and providing group therapy where needed.

The LEAP Coordinator will work in a multidisciplinary team based approach and be supported by other experienced mental health professionals.
