About the Role

The Registered Nurse - Mental Health Transition Program is a unique opportunity for experienced nurses to transition into a mental health setting. This program is designed to support nurses in developing the skills and knowledge required to work in mental health, while also providing a supportive and collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete 2 six-month rotations across multiple services within the Mental Health, Drugs and Alcohol Service in the Geelong and Barwon South West region
  • Complete a 2-week in-depth orientation program at the beginning of the program and supernumerary shifts at each clinical site
  • Individual and group supervision
  • Support from preceptors, clinical staff, managers, and educators
About the Program

The Transition to Mental Health Nursing Program is a comprehensive program that provides nurses with the opportunity to develop their skills and knowledge in mental health nursing. The program includes:

  • Rotations across multiple services to gain experience and develop skills
  • Individual and group supervision to support learning and development
  • Support from experienced mental health clinicians, preceptors, and educators
