The Team
The position of Communications Manager forms a part of the Strategic Communications Group.

This Group actively promote the Victorian Government's role in driving a strong and resilient economy that benefits all Victorians - by creating more opportunities for people through jobs and skills; supporting businesses and industries to grow and prosper; and building vibrant communities and regions.

Through connecting with staff, communities, business/industry and stakeholders to build awareness, inform, educate and/or change behaviour we deliver the Government's projects, initiatives and commitments.

The Role

The Communications Manager for the Agriculture and Climate Change portfolio groups leads a cross-disciplinary communications team to deliver innovative, high-quality and effective strategic communications, media and stakeholder engagement services within the department's Strategic Communications Group, to support the achievement of government priorities.


Key Accountabilities include:

  • Initiate, lead and drive the development and implementation of strategic communications, media and stakeholder engagement frameworks
  • Provide strong leadership to the portfolio team
  • Provide authoritative and expert communications, engagement and media advice
  • Provide highlevel stakeholder management and engagement
  • Play an active role as a member of the Strategic Communications leadership team and contribute to the direction of the team

You will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the branch.


Skills and Attributes for the role:

  • A relevant tertiary degree or qualification in communications or public relations would be well regarded
  • Sound knowledge of and experience working in government is essential
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to strategically plan, prioritise effectively and set goals
  • Ability to deal with communications, media and stakeholder engagement
  • Commitment to delivering highquality outcomes for the department
  • Ability to lead, support and inspire a highperforming team
