Overnewton Anglican Community College is a co-educational Preparatory to Year 12 College catering for approximately 2,000 students across two campuses, Canowindra located in Taylors Lakes and Yirramboi in Keilor.

Parental involvement Recognising that education is a partnership, the College seeks high parental engagement and each family currently contributes 12 hours of service to the College per term.

There are many parent working groups helping in areas such as classroom assistance, gardening, yard duty, administrative support, catering, canteens and the annual fair.

There are also regular working bees at each campus.
The parental involvement is a key to the success of a student's experience in the College.
Students attend the College knowing they have the complete support and commitment of their parents behind them.

Child Protection Statement Overnewton College has a zero tolerance for child abuse and is committed to providing child safety, children's wellbeing and protecting children from abuse.

Ministerial order 870 requires Overnewton College to implement child safety standards and to accommodate and take the needs of all children (including but not limited to, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, children with disabilities and children who are vulnerable) into account when creating a child safe environment.

Position Overview Position Title Debt Collections Officer Campus:
Yirramboi Reports to: Director of Finance and Business, through the
College Credit Controller Tenure: 7 Month Contract (to 22 December, 2024)

To be confirmed Position Summary This specialised role is to support the College in its collections of fee debt.

The roleis responsible for managing the collection ofoutstanding school fees and overduepayments in an efficient manner, with dueconsideration for the reputation and valuesof the College.

The role includes thedevelopment and maintenance ofcontemporary record-keeping and metricsreports to against key goals.
Managing stakeholder relationships,particularly with debtor families, will be Position Relationships

  • Finance team members Debt Collections Officer | OVERNEWTON ANGLICAN COMMUNITY COLLEGE6 Key Responsibilities The Debt Collections Officer is responsible for the collection of overdue school fees; Administration and record-keeping
  • Work with the Credit Controller to develop and maintain a database of outstanding debtors, including real-time account activities, and agreed terms of payment.
  • Maintain a record of correspondence with each debtor, including outcomes and follow-up dates.
  • Liaise with Edstart on debtors, including maintaining a record of payments for College records, accounts in arrears/defaults and payment requirements.
Reporting

  • Work with the Credit Controller and Director of Finance & Business to quantify collections for each month in working towards key targets.
  • Compile a regular update report, including developing key metrics, for the Director of Finance & Business and the Principal.
  • Prepare a monthly report for the College Board's Finance Committee on debtors.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the role in line with key targets set by the Finance Committee.
Debt collection

  • Coordinate and communicate with debtors on any account or payment queries.
  • Support families to implement fee payment schedules, by negotiating payment deadlines and plans.
  • Recommend suitable families sign up with Edstart and provide contact details and support for that process.
  • By working with the Credit Controller, oversee all payments, and follow up missed payments.
  • Work with the Director of Finance and Business to institute timely legal action, if needed.
  • Perform all administrative duties related to ensuring office efficiency.
Stakeholder Relations

  • Develop productive relationships with debtor families, in consideration of the nature of the role and the
  • Engage with similar roles in other schools, to exchange professional strategies and resources.
  • Represent the College at relevant events, conferences of professional learning opportunities for debt officers.
Relevant Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in debt collections, or similar role.
  • Expert skills using MS Office, especially data manipulation and reporting using Microsoft Excel.
  • Skills in working with databases to store, extract and update information.
  • Demonstrated skills in professional communication, negotiation and resolving conflicts.
  • Ability to speak persuasively and listen critically.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.

  • All teachers will hold current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • All education support staff will have a current Working with Children's Card (Employee).
  • It is expected that all staff will support the Christian ethos of the College.
