About the role

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the delivery of Future Energy System (aka long term) plans, including integration with renewable energy sources and alignment with corporate strategy.
  • Manage system studies to understand future energy system requirements and constraints.
  • Develop processes and procedures that guide the efficient analysis and modelling of Horizon Power's systems.
  • Conduct high level financial analysis of feasible options.
  • Manage the delivery of system studies for connection of significant new loads and generators.
  • Manage team to prescribed budget and deliver within customer's requirements
  • Lead the energy transition by identifying, developing, and planning for low carbon innovative energy solutions for Horizon Power's systems.
  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of appropriate planning reports, processes, guidelines, energy models, tools and databases.
  • Undertake options analysis and cost benefit modelling of different technologies and energy solutions.
  • Direct or undertake hybrid generation optimisation studies, incorporating new technology and renewable energy sources.
  • Provide technical support and leadership to planning engineers and engineering teams within Horizon Power.
  • Provide technical support to key strategic projects as and when required.

In addition to sharing our passion, to be successful in this role you will have:

  • 10+ years working in a system planning role, with focus on Energy systems (generation, transmission, distribution and emerging technologies) planning, design, commissioning, operation and maintenance.
  • Business and financial analysis evaluation principles and methodologies.
  • Energy systems technology.
  • Project management techniques and methodologies.
  • Development of engineering reports and technical writing.
  • Working with stakeholders at a senior level to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Working with customers to deliver a high level of customer service.
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
