The Position

St John of God Bendigo Hospital is a major inland city two hours north-east of Melbourne, in central Victoria. It is a contemporary private hospital providing a comprehensive range of acute health care services for the regional community. The hospital recently underwent a significant redevelopment in 2015 that added a new three-storey wing featuring new operating theatres, large recovery area, new sterilising department, and refurbishment of all rooms and public areas.

We are currently seeking an Admin superstar to join our Cardiac Care Unit as
Ward Clerk. Ward Clerk's provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support for the Ward staff as determined by the Nurse Manager. This may include managing patient records, scheduling appointments, and coordinating communication between the ward staff and other departments.

Additionally, ward clerks may also assist with inventory management and ordering supplies to ensure the smooth operation of the ward.

This position is on a Permanent Full time basis, working 76 hours a fortnight.

  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in an interactive environment as well as work with mínimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with MS Office, patient record systems, and clinical databases
  • The ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • An understanding of private health funds and billing processes for our intensive care and coronary care patients
  • Ability to help coordinate transfers and discharges to ensure efficient patient flow
  • Willingness to learn processes and contribute to the maintenance of a safe intensive care working environment with an understanding of ward stock and consumables
