Way Maintainer (Night Shift) - Geelong

  • This is a great starting point, no prior rail experience needed, just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

  • Full-time nightshift position with a competitive hourly rate of $35.39 plus a 30% shift loading, penalty rates, and EDO's every fortnight. You'll be working on a 5-day on, 2-day off roster from 9pm to 5am.

About the role

As a Way Maintainer, you play a crucial part in V/Line's Network Development, Assets, and Maintenance Group.

You'll assist the Geelong Night Shift team in tasks such as laying, aligning, repairing, and maintaining railway tracks from Werribee to Warrnambool.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Helping with the replacement and renovation of track and crossing materials like sleepers, rail, ballast, and fastenings as instructed.
  • Maintain cleanliness at plant equipment and worksites, and assist in general site maintenance.
  • Usage and upkeep of hand tools and minor mechanical equipment.
  • Ensure all work aligns with relevant OH&S standards and regulations.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Valid Victorian Driver's License.
  • Minimum completion of Year 10 or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a manual labor role is advantageous.
  • Truck license or plant operator competencies are beneficial.
  • Readiness to work permanent Night shift reliably, including overtime, travel, and on-call as needed.
