In this role, you will be focused on producing, or facilitating the production of communications content for the Department of Communities and Justice across a variety of formats.

Your work will raise awareness of the department s key programs, initiatives and policy priorities.

What you ll do


As an Assistant Communications Officer, you will be responsible for assisting and producing a range of communications content across a variety of formats such as web content, reports, videos and imagery.


Working in this role will involve:

  • Drafting a range of communications content and materials to provide quality, accurate and timely information to stakeholders.
  • Implementing and coordinating communications activities to support DCJ policy and operational priorities and to communicate key messages relating to initiatives and service delivery.
  • Delivering communications projects including developing logistics, budgets, resource and project plans, and reporting to enable the efficient and effective communication of developments and information to the community.

Undertaking research and analysis to inform the development of communications strategies, including the identification of key target audiences for DCJ communications programs.


The role is based in DCJ s central communications team, reporting to the Manager, Campaigns and Strategy for a team working in the housing, homelessness, and disaster welfare portfolio.


What we re looking for
We re looking for someone with creative and critical thinking skills who has:

  • Demonstrated skills in developing and delivering high-quality and effective communication collateral to support the department s business objectives
  • Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to work with key suppliers including graphic designers, videographers, and photographers
  • Experience in planning and project managing communications activities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare documents for various audiences and purposes.
