Your new role

The Community Engagement Representative position plays a vital role in delivering the Carer Gateway services program. This role involves intake, assessment, and planning services for Carers seeking support from the Carer Gateway across NSW

The main goal is to assist the Coordinator Community Engagement and Volunteering in promoting Wellways services, reaching out to hard-to-reach Carers, hidden caring groups, or assisting Carers who cannot access services via the Contact Centre in community settings. This position will identify and create opportunities to enhance the inclusion of individuals and community groups in accessing Carer Gateway services and fostering healthy, resilient, and connected communities.

Reporting to the Coordinator Community Engagement and Volunteering, you will work independently and be accountable for:

  • Developing strategies to reach hidden or difficult-to-reach carers and communities and aiding them in accessing Carer Gateway services and support.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to Carers, ensuring they feel heard and supported.
  • Delivering Intake, Planning, and Assessment services to Carers as per the Carer Support Framework
  • Collaborating with Carers to establish and implement agreed-upon action plans.
  • Utilizing co-production principles and methodologies in program development
  • Ensuring the service approach embodies the following service principles: Carer Focused, Practical and Flexible, Inclusive

Pre-employment compliance requirements

  • Certificate IV in Community Development
  • Thorough understanding of the caring role and evidence-based, best practice Carer supports that enable Carers to sustain their caring role and enhance their own well-being and identity
  • Evidence of working rights within Australia (birth cert/passport/visa)
  • National Police Check (12 months old) and Working with Childrens Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate – free online course
  • COVID 19 Vaccination Certificate with Booster or valid medical exemption
