About the Role:

As Principal Project Officer, Curriculum you will:

  • Provide high level strategic advice to senior management and clients that supports the implementation of the Australian Curriculum;
  • Lead and participate in project teams to undertake project planning, implementation and review to support quality outcomes in schools;
  • Scope and develop curriculum resources to ensure continuity of learning for all students;
  • Contribute to briefing materials, submissions, papers, reports and correspondence on curriculum, pedagogy and assessment topics;
  • Develop and undertake projects with a specific focus on the early phase of learning, guided by the Education Strategy Equity and Excellence: Realising the potential of every student; and
  • Liaise with and build positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal applicant will have the following key attributes:

  • A deep knowledge of the Australian Curriculum (v8.4 and v9) and contemporary curriculum, assessment and pedagogical practices;
  • A deep knowledge and practical experience in evidence informed best practice approaches to the effective teaching and monitoring of reading;
  • An understanding of the department's key literacy and numeracy monitoring tools;
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and achieve required outcomes within set timeframes;
  • Capacity to engage with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • High level written and oral communication skills;
  • Experience in working on complex projects to achieve required outcomes within set timeframes;
  • Recent teaching and classroom experience (highly desirable).
