Job Title: Principal Project Officer - Water Resource Management

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Project Officer to join our team in the Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-level support and advice on a diverse range of projects encompassing water resource management and mine closure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide timely, expert and authoritative advice on complex and emerging issues relevant to water resource management and mine closure.
  • Devise and implement project plans, engagement strategies and recommendations to advance key projects and coordinate input from other subject matter experts, and other agencies or stakeholder groups as required.
  • Oversight of contractors and consultants engaged to support the delivery of projects and initiatives.
  • Conduct and coordinate substantial research, analysis and interpretation of information to support the delivery of programs and projects relating to water resource management and mine closure.
  • Develop and maintain constructive working relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of complex high-quality reports, briefing notes, presentations, speeches, publications and correspondence for Cabinet, Committees, Industry/Stakeholder Working Groups, the Minister and senior departmental management.
  • Represent the Department at State/Commonwealth conferences, internal/external meetings and committees, inter-agency and inter-jurisdictional working groups.
  • Manage, mentor, coach and develop staff to ensure the necessary skills, expertise and motivation are available to respond to opportunities for innovation, service delivery requirements and team performance is to a high standard.
About You:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong background in water resource management, environmental science and management, or environmental law. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
