We are seeking a dynamic and progressive Compensation and Benefits professional to lead Alcoa's Total Rewards function for Australia.

This role reports to the Global Vice President of Total Rewards (based in the US) and is responsible for ensuring programs and processes are aligned with the organisation's and region's strategic objectives, culture, and global Total Rewards philosophy.

Key activities include, but are not limited to the followings:

  • Manages compensation and benefits design, implementation, and operationalization within Australia.
  • Reviews the company's competitive compensation levels relative to market, developing and recommending changes to the salary structure to attract and retain qualified staff as appropriate.
  • Oversees the job evaluation process, and/or serves as lead analyst for conducting job evaluations and communicating results.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation and benefits policies, guidelines, and procedures.
  • In partnership with the global Total Rewards team, leads the annual compensation salary planning process for Australia.
  • Manages the external compensation survey process and survey subscriptions.
  • Keeps appraised of local benefits and compensation laws and regulations to ensure company compliance. Reviews and analyses changes to the laws and manages execution of required or suggested changes.
  • Manages employee benefits programs and acts as key contact for company sponsored superannuation plan.
  • Develops specifications for new plans or modifies existing plans to maintain company's competitive position in labour market and ensure a benefit package that is meaningful for all company locations.
  • Manages implementation of approved new plans and changes including communication materials, booklets, and other media for communicating new plans to employees.
  • Manages 3rd party partnerships with brokers and administration vendors.

  • Substantial experience in HR, including Compensation and/or Total Rewards
  • Strategy and Policy development
  • Experience working with remuneration models, bonus schemes, superannuation, share plans, expatriate, insurance and related tax considerations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to make data-driven and strategic decisions.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Solid ethics and discretion
  • Ability to work cross functionally with various departments.
  • Experienced in overseeing complex projects and implementation initiatives.
  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits best-practice
  • Knowledge of relevant employment legislation and regulations
  • A "roll up your sleeves" mentality with the ability to pivot easily between strategic and tactical.

About where you will work.

Alcoa's Australian head office is located in Booragoon, approximately 15 kilometres south of Perth's central business district. Employees provide corporate services, including finance, procurement, information technology, environmental management and corporate affairs, to Alcoa's businesses locally and world-wide.

Alcoa Australia is administered from its head office, located in Booragoon, WA. The company headquarters, situated on Whadjuk Noongar land, is only 16 kilometres away from Perth's CBD.
