This role reports to Manager - Administration and Health Information

Position profile

  • Promotes and abides by the Ramsay Way (attached), and Joondalup Health Campus and Ramsay Healthcare policies and procedures generally, as established and as varied from time to time.
  • Support and contribute to the achievement of the clinical, teaching, research and organisational goals of the Hospital as an active member of the Hospital community.
  • Support and contribute to the achievement of continuous quality improvement in the delivery of services to customers
  • Exercise proper courtesy, consideration and sensitivity in dealings with patients, members of the public and other employees
  • Act with integrity in the performance of your official duties and in the use of official equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain the strict confidentiality of patient, employee and other information.
  • Participate in the systematic continuing development of your own work performance and skills.
  • Complies with all legislative requirements in the work place including occupational safety and health acts and workers' compensation.

Specific duties of the position

  • Assist and support in the recruitment and selection of clerical staff required in the department
  • Assist in the training and skill development of the Emergency Clerical staff
  • Ensure that the administrative functions support the clinical functions
  • Support the development of policies and procedures relating to practices within the department are in line with both best practice and legislative requirements and are readily accessible by staff
  • Ensure appropriate confidentiality is maintained at all times
  • Provide leadership to the administration team, mentoring and training where required
  • Manage the rostering system Workplan and MyTime effectively and efficiently
  • Work effectively with all ED staff ensuring best possible outcomes for patients and the Department
  • Maintain reception and waiting areas to a high standard of presentation and neatness
  • Provide assistance with admissions, discharges and audits as required
  • Other duties as required by the Administration & Health Information Manager.

Experience, Knowledge, Skills and abilities relevant to the position

Essential

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills, including the ability to plan, prioritise, make decisions, meet deadlines and manage resources.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and commitment to meet both internal and external customer expectations and requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation.
  • Demonstrated superior problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Office package, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Health insurance Commission and DVA guidelines

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems.
  • Previous Supervisory experience
  • Previous Health Fund experience

Remuneration:
On offer is a base hourly rate ranging from $ superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances**

Joondalup Health Campus Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Western Australia, providing 24-hour acute care from an integrated public and private hospital campus.

Our department treats a truly interesting and diverse case mix and has 77 patient bays, which is made up of 38 adult treatment bays, a 15-bed emergency admission area, a 10 bed Mental Health Observation Area, an 11-bed paediatric treatment and observation area and three resuscitation bays.
