The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) is the voice of general practitioners (GPs) in our growing cities and throughout rural and remote Australia.

About you

As our National Manager, Funding and Health System Reform, you'll be a passionate and skilled people leader with experience within the Australian healthcare sector researching and analysing policy issues and developing policy advice, position statements and submissions at a national level.

You'll use your excellent verbal communication and influencing skills to build and manage effective relationships with key industry, government, non-government and internal stakeholders.


To thrive in this role, you'll have:
a tertiary qualification in a related discipline
an ability to initiate research, seek out relevant data/information and analyse findings to provide informed and evidence-based recommendations.
excellent written skills and an ability to produce high quality documents and briefing papers.
experience in the development of health-related resources.

  • About the opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Policy Officer, you'll lead the Funding and Health System Reform Department.

You will support the teams within the Department to develop and implement strategies to drive outcomes within their relevant portfolio areas.

You'll provide strategic policy advice and review, update and contribute to new policies, position statements and submissions, while working collaboratively with the other departments in the Unit and across the organisation to meet the overall strategies and goals of the RACGP.


In addition, you'll:

engage stakeholders on policy issues and coordinate RACGP responses to Government and other stakeholders
provide support and advice to the RACGP President, Board, Media and communication teams, RACGP Expert Committee for Funding and Health System Reform and other relevant sub-committees or working groups
proactively identify and respond to emerging issues
manage and oversee budgets for Funding &Health System Reform Department.
