The Opportunity
Are you looking for a position that is challenging, rewarding and would involve working as part of a team to shape the development of one of Melbourne's major growth areas?

Council is seeking to appoint a Development Planner within its Statutory Planning Department.

This position will play a pivotal role in the assessment of planning proposals, liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders as well as working with Council's City Strategy area on reviewing planning strategies and policies.


The position would suit a planner seeking a wide variety of planning work in both an urban and rural context, and someone particularly interested in growth area planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide advice as part of Council's planning for growth and development within the City of Melton.
  • Undertake consultation with developers and their various consultants and advisors to satisfactorily resolve development issues.
  • Assist and provide input into Planning Scheme Amendments and the development of strategic planning policies, as required from time to time, including the ongoing review of Council's Planning Scheme.
  • Represent Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) as required.

About you

_ To be successful in this role you will have the following:_

  • A Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning and/or a related discipline with some experience in a town planning office in a statutory planning role.
  • Understanding of planning legislation and planning scheme provisions.
  • Understanding of planning issues in growth areas on the urban fringe.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver's Licence.
