About the opportunity


An exciting opportunity exists for an appropriately experienced HR Officer to join the Human Resource Services team at Blacktown City Council.

Your role will include the delivery of employee services in line with Council's strategic direction, in a pro-active and efficient manner that enables council to attract, develop and retain appropriate and suitably qualified employees through provision of effective support and advisory services in accordance with current Human Resources, recruitment and employee relations practice.


  • Temporary, fulltime position up to 12 months.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in an appropriate field
  • Diploma or above and/ or relevant experience in human resources, recruitment and employee relations
  • Demonstrated well developed communication and interpersonal skills, sound analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary human resource practices and current issues
  • Ability work within a small, dynamic and fast
- paced team environment

  • Availability to work flexible working hours
  • Current Class C driver's licence.

Desirable:

  • A sound knowledge of Commonwealth, State and Local Government Legislation impacting on HR, recruitment and employee relations.

Remuneration and benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $ 1,599.52 per week
  • 35hour working week
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 10.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
