: The ACT Parks and Conservation Service is seeking a casual Visitor Services Officer to provide customer service and business support functions, primarily at the Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre. The role is a part of the Volunteer and Visitor Experience team within the Parks and Partnerships section of the ACT Parks and Conservation Service.

The position involves assisting with the daily operation of the Visitor Information Centre during the week, rostered weekends and public holidays and is required to liaise with staff and volunteers to ensure the smooth provision of visitor services during those times.

The role is part of a small team of full-time, part-time and casual Visitor Services Officers and reports to the Manager of Tidbinbilla Visitor Centre.

The role is focused on the provision of frontline customer service and involves:

greeting and providing information to visitors in a timely and accurate manner. cash handling and sales of entry passes, retail and kiosk items utilising point of sale systems. receiving and responding to telephone and email enquiries. assisting with preparation of food and beverages for sale, including cleaning and restocking according to safe food handing requirements. assisting with a retail area including cleaning and restocking. provide basic office administration assistance as required. maintaining databases associated with the business systems under direction. acting as point of contact between visitors and staff regarding recreation and tourism opportunities. assist in the delivery of interpretation activities to visitors and groups. providing administrative and operational support to management in relation to incident, accident or emergency situations under direction. contributing to the realisation of operational and strategic goals for the business and for the broader estate as directed. maintaining records in accordance with the Territory Records Act 2002.

Administrative support functions include basic financial management tasks such as cash handling and utilising point of sale systems. The position provides support in record-keeping, equipment and stock control, security, telephone and radio communication systems.

Working with other Volunteer and Visitor Experience team members, this role provides support as needed across other sites within the Parks and Partnerships Team.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

Mandatory:

Current manual driver's licence. Preparedness to wear a uniform. Preparedness to work a shift roster including weekends and public holidays (penalty rates apply). Preparedness to work at any Parks and Conservation Service location as directed. The position requires a Working with Vulnerable People Registration.

Highly Desirable:

Proven hospitality skills in a fast-paced environment well regarded.

Notes: This position will be offered on a casual basis and the full-time salary noted above will be paid pro-rata. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
