This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a collaborative team which strives to provide practical solutions to the complex workplace relations and safety problems that our clients face.

The team provides advice to a range of businesses and not for profit associations operating across multiple industry sectors, with extensive experience in advising the construction, engineering and resources sectors.

On any given day, the team can also advise local and state government, not for profit, health and education institutions.

You will have the opportunity, working collaboratively with the team, to work closely with high-profile clients advising on a wide range of employment and safety related issues, including:

  • employment contracts and policies;
- enterprise bargaining and industrial action;
- unfair dismissal, breach of award and adverse action claims;
- advising on legislative requirements and award conditions;
- discrimination matters;

  • WHS advice, serious incident response and safety prosecutions;
- misconduct investigations;
- advising on and implementing employment arrangements in transfer of business scenarios;
- opportunities for appearance work in litigious matters including conciliation and mediation conferences as well as instructing Counsel; and
- developing and delivering training for clients on workplace relations and safety matters.


As an Associate, with the support and supervision of the partners in the team, Renae Harding and Greg Smith, you will be encouraged to take on responsibility and accountability for direct contact with clients and day to day management of matters.

- minimum of 4 years post-admission experience;
- proven experience in Workplace Relations and Safety matters;
- a proactive, innovative and energetic approach;
- the ability to meet timeframes, deadlines and be well organised;
- high legal standards - accuracy and attention to detail in drafting is crucial;
- proven ability to manage challenging situations in a professional manner;
- excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
- strong analytical ability.


We are looking for someone who is keen to be part of the significant change that is taking place in the workplace relations and safety landscape and work with a supportive team to support our clients through this change.

This person will also work with the senior members of the team to grow their own profile and expertise and contribute to supporting the continued growth of the team.
