About the Role


This role is responsible for providing high level support and strategic advice to the Dean of School of Management, through effective planning and management of resources and operations in the School.

By giving effect to the

College of Business and Law


and School's strategic objectives, the Manager Planning & Operations will make a significant contribution to the strategic management and direction of the School and College.


The Manager Planning & Operations will lead and manage the School's administrative activities relating to operational, financial, human resource/staffing, profile planning and performance.

The role will play a key role in leading cultural and work practice changes required to support School and College strategic direction.


The Manager Planning & Operations will also work with the General Manager, College Operations in the provision of College-wide leadership and will work closely with those responsible for the delivery of comprehensive and aligned College-wide services.

About You

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in the management and delivery of services within a complex organisation, preferably in the tertiary education sector.
  • Proven budget and financial management, planning and business development skills including the ability to provide sound strategic financial advice.
  • Demonstrated people management experience including the demonstrated ability to manage performance and build capacity.
  • Demonstrated high level problem solving and analytical ability to identify improvement opportunities
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead, direct and influence others, including a proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external groups.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and confidently as a member of a small Executive team to achieve identified goals and provide high level, comprehensive advice to the Dean.
  • Demonstrate high level digital technology skills to support accountabilities of the position.
About the College of Business and Law


As one of the largest Business Schools in the Asia Pacific region, the College of Business and Law is comprised of five schools - four in Melbourne and one in Vietnam - delivering a broad range of programs in Business, ranging from Certificates up to PHD levels.

Many programs articulate between Vocational Education and Higher Education, creating pathways for further study.

RMIT Business programs are delivered in Melbourne, Vietnam, Singapore, Shanghai and Jakarta, as well as through Open Universities Australia (OUA) and RMIT Online.

The College has an annual budget of approximately $280 million, employs over 1000 staff and delivers programs to approximately 30,000 students (20,000 EFTSL).


The College is located on RMIT University's City Campus and resides in the state of the art Swanston Academic and Emily McPherson buildings.
