You'll find a thriving beef and dairy industry that began in the 1850s in Bega, cheese capital of Australia. In Goulburn, the Big Merino is a symbol of the 200-year-old local wool industry.


Follow the oyster trail from Bermagui to Wonboyn; fish, surf and kayak in Bateman's Bay; spot platypus in Bombala; see the remnants of early pioneer life in Delegate; marvel at the Snowy Hydro dams in Cooma and Khancoban; visit the Mogo Zoo; ski, mountain bike or hike in Kosciuszko National Park; and pan for gold or pick some cherries in Young.

Resident wildlife include kangaroos, wallabies, possums, bandicoots, sea eagles, parrots, lyrebirds and wombats.

The area is home to more than 200,000 residents including four large Aboriginal nations: Gundungurra, Ngunnawal, Ngarigo and Yuin. The population is expected to keep growing, with the fastest-growing age group aged 65 and over.

What you'll be doing

The Tuberculosis Care Nurse, using best practice evidence provides person-centered specialist nursing care at an advanced practice level for TB patients in Southern NSW.

This includes ensuring consistency of practise for high-risk patient assessment, care planning and referral.

The TB CNS Coordinates and support the LHD TB clinics working in partnership with tertiary providers and General Practitioners ensuring a flexible quality TB management and treatment service.


Selection Criteria

  • Current Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse with postregistration qualifications in infection control, Public or Primary Community Health related field with a minimum of three years' experience working in the clinical area with a current NSW TB Service accreditation to administer tuberculin skin testing (TST) and Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccinations.
  • Demonstrated competencies in and knowledge of the complexities and challenges involved in providing speciality nursing care in the context of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate ability to exercise extended autonomy in clinical decision making capabilities and leadership in the development of nursing specialty practice advancement.
  • Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology, written and verbal means and sound interpersonal skills with the capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, delegate, and negotiate with others to deliver quality nursing care with a willingness to show leadership and embrace change in the coordination and delivery of care
  • Evidence of a current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
