Position Information:

Melonba High School is a new school located in the suburb of Melonba near Marsden Park. and it will open at the start of 2024 with Years 7 and 8 students. It is expected to experience rapid growth enrolment in the first 5 years of operation. When completed, the school will have capacity for 2000 students.

The school will incorporate an innovative and future focused educational model, reflective of agile teaching and learning areas while also supporting the welfare needs to students.

There are two Deputy Principal positions to be filled.

One position will be for commencement in Term 3 ,2023 and the second position for commencement at the beginning of Term 4, 2023.


Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated capacity to establish and lead the implementation of innovative teaching and learning platforms that contribute to a culture of high expectations, collaborative practice and ongoing school improvement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of school operations and the capacity to collaborate and lead the Executive team to design, implement and evaluate administrative and management processes that align with the School Excellence Framework.
  • Demonstrated outstanding interpersonal skills that promote productive and positive relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Proactive leadership to effectively manage student wellbeing, demonstrating ability to develop and sustain wellbeing initiatives that promote a strong positive culture, enhance student engagement and belonging for all students.

General Selection Criteria:

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
