Position Information:


At Blacktown Girls High School students are empowered to learn to their fullest potential in an environment in which everyone is known, valued and respected.

The school has an enrolment of 1088 students, made up of 2.3% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and 89% of students with a Language Background Other Than English.

Equity programs to support students from a Language Background Other Than English and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are delivered by staff and external agencies.

We have also fostered strong partnerships with universities, businesses and community groups and have established strong industry connections.

Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated exemplary leadership skills and emotional intelligence which enhance the capacity of others and strengthen staff efficacy to drive a culture of high expectations throughout a diverse school community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a focus on reflective evidence based and data informed practices with the ability to strategically lead change that results in academic growth and high achievement.
  • High level communication and organisational skills to ensure the successful prioritisation and management of complex day to day school operations and complex cohort and individual student cases.
  • Proven ability to support the well-being of students through proactive strategies that create an inclusive, engaging learning environment where all students can achieve and maximise their learning outcomes.

General Selection Criteria:

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
