Position Information:


Macarthur Girls High School, with an enrolment of 1065 students, is located in Parramatta, the demographic centre of Sydney on the banks of the Parramatta River.

Over 90% of our students are from language backgrounds other than English.

The school's purpose is to encourage students to achieve their personal best and beyond, empowering them with the necessary skills to be successful citizens in an everchanging world.

The school has a very positive reputation in the broader community, having been at the forefront of future focused learning.

In 2021 the school was identified as an Ambassador School in 2021.

In 2023, Macarthur Girls High School undertook External Validation against the School Excellence Framework and was excelling in all 3 key domains.

A clear focus on evidence-informed pedagogical practice and a strong focus on knowing our students and how they learn underpin strategic directions with an emphasis on customised learning and wellbeing and collaborative teaching and learning to enhance student growth and attainment.


Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Demonstrated capacity to lead whole school initiatives supported by data-driven practices, evaluative processes and evidence-informed pedagogy, supporting curriculum reform and enhancing student literacy and numeracy.
  • Proven ability to work as a member of the senior executive team in effectively implementing and managing school strategic directions, organisational processes and communication systems to ensure consistency in expectation and practice to meet the academic needs of students.
  • Proven capacity to be a highly visible, collaborative and consultative member of the Executive Leadership Team, leading and supporting initiatives that enhance teacher capacity and nurture positive relationships with students, parents and the wider community.
  • Demonstrated capacity and commitment to strengthening community partnerships through programs that expand parent engagement opportunities to build connections with the school and the learning of our students.

General Selection Criteria:

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
