The Role
The External Affairs Manager leads media and PR activities for Origin retail, brand campaigns and sponsorship.

With support from the Senior External Affairs Manager, the role is responsible for managing Origin's consumer PR agency, liaising with media, plus working with internal and external stakeholders across Origin to influence and deliver positive communications outcomes for the business.

Reporting to the Senior External Affairs Manager, this role willl be for a 12 month maternity cover contract.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Manage consumer Retail PR campaigns including (but not limited to):
  • Launches of new products and services, agreements and customer trials (across retail, Origin Zero, Origin 360EV, Origin Loop, Future Energy).
  • Support for brand and business unit marketing campaigns (where applicable).
  • Support for strategic retail priorities for growth (CES, solar, adjacencies).
  • Manage PR for Origin sponsorships including Sydney Swans, Netball Australia, and Melbourne City FC.
  • Manage PR agency to develop and implement a calendar of editorial content that protects, supports and enhances Origin brand and reputation a combination of sourcing newsworthy/interesting content from the business as well as selfgenerated content.
  • Work with Senior External Affairs Manager and PR agency to manage media relations and external stakeholder engagement for campaigns.
  • Handle inbound media queries that relate to retail products and services, marketing, brand and sponsorship with support from Senior External Affairs Manage.
  • Collaborate with other communications teams (social media, employee communications, digital, retail marketing content team) to develop integrated communications plans and to maximise engagement with content.
  • Manage PR agency retainer including regular WIPs, reviewing proposals and media materials, reporting on earned media outcome against KPIs.
  • Copy writing, reviewing and obtaining necessary approvals for media releases, spokesperson briefing notes etc.

  • Ability to work in a complex and demanding environment, with a requirement to meet urgent deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate positively and with influence to gain agreement.
  • Creative thinker with experience in running integrated communication campaigns.
  • Strong ability to develop meaningful relationship internally with key stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement communication campaigns.
  • Demonstrated understanding of key industry stakeholders and their communication requirements.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability prioritise tasks to meet competing deadlines.
  • Uses initiative and is proactive.
  • Uses analytical thinking to resolve problems.
  • Ability to rapidly learn the dynamics of the energy industry, its issues and challenges if they do not have prior industry experience.
