Join Australia Post's International Division in a diverse and integral role
Australia Post's international division connects Australia Post to the world. From a nostalgic aerogram to a family member overseas, to critical international courier services. Australia Post is committed to delivering for our customers to over 220 countries and territories.


In this role you will be a critical person to the international division, the International Affairs Unit is responsible for moving forward the commercial and strategic interests of Australia Post in all key regulatory and commercial forums.

Working with senior level stakeholders and our shareholder, to help interpret the regulatory framework for international post.

The division provides enterprise-wide advice and strategy based on international regulatory and commercial matters. They are Australia Post's voice in external relations with the government, foreign governments, postal regulators, and other postal administrations.

This role has arrived as a parental cover and will be a 6-7 month maximum term contract.

What you'll deliver with us


As the Head of International Affairs you will lead a team of highly qualified experts that deliver the above services.

You will report into our General Manager of International Services and act as a member of the International Senior Leadership Team.


You'll

  • Set work priorities to deliver on the international affairs strategic direction. Ensuring key items are delivered on time, on budget and aligned to the overarching strategy of the international portfolio.
  • Supervise and be accountable for the strategic, policy and regulatory advice provided by the unit to the wider business.
  • Identify, seek out and devise strategies to implement regulatory changes and outcomes from relevant international forums. These forums can include the Universal Postal Union (UPU), APPU, IPC, KPG and FTA.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Promote existing commercial and political partnerships and identify new partnership opportunities.
  • Lead Australia Post's engagement with the commonwealth on international regulatory matters.
  • Lead the unit's role in providing advisory support in international disputes.
  • Lead Australia Post's delegation at international postal union & association meetings.
  • Work with government departments to devise strategies, tactics and communication at international postal meetings and other regulatory forums, such as the WTO and FTA negotiating bodies.
  • Lead the negotiations of commercial, bilateral agreements, with overseas postal operators.

About you
You will be an experienced leader in highly regulated, multilateral environments.

You will have strong baseline skills and able to lead managers and be able to demonstrate an ability to keep a busy team motivated.

You will have exposure to senior stakeholders, influencing at a high level and be comfortable working at high levels.

You'll

  • Have a tertiary qualification in law (or a related discipline)
  • Extensive knowledge of the regulatory and governance environment
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Strong stakeholder relationships.
