About the role


We are seeking a dedicated and pro-active LARF Assistant position to assist the RAMP team with the facilitation of the LARF and MEA cats programs as required on a casual basis.

What is the LARF Program?

LARF stands for Life skills, Activities, Relationships and Fun.

Each theme correlates to a school term throughout the year in which the focused efforts are on building the related skills necessary to develop and thrive within the community.

Each school holiday break (Excluding December/Jan Holidays) a day session is held where an activity related to the corresponding term theme is organised which encourages engagement outside of the school term.

The LARF programs run on Thursday evenings (4.30pm - 9.30pm) for 48 weeks in the year.

The program provides transport for the duration of the evening, which includes pickup, drop off, and moving between session facilities.

The LARF MEA Cats program is designed to assist the children in the Parker Place units.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify individual children's needs by working along with RAMP coordinator
  • Inform parents of issues when appropriate and provided with necessary support and information
  • Assist in development and implementation of goals and objectives for Life skills, Activities, Relationships & Fun (LARF)
  • Assist with program delivery
  • Cofacilitate program as required
  • Maintain knowledge of current and relevant legislation
  • Maintain knowledge of WHS policy and procedures and risk management
  • Provide risk assessments and incident reports as required
  • Promote a safe and healthy workplace
This is a casual position, based in Ballarat, VIC.

LARF is delivered each Thursday night during the school term - must be able to work until 9.30pm on a Thursday evening.

Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Level 4.

What you will bring

  • Diploma (or working towards) of Youth Work or relevant Human Services Field
  • National Police Record Check is required
  • Working with Children's Check
  • Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Current VIC Drivers' Licence
  • Able to work as part of a team
