We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Childcare Coordinator to provide coordination and care in our Occasional Childcare Centre.

The Salvation Army Australia’s Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

About the role

We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Childcare Coordinator to provide coordination and care in our Occasional Childcare Centre. Many of the children attending the Centre have experienced homelessness, family violence and/or trauma. This position is school terms only and within school hours. You will support the under 5 age group and their family by coordinating and providing a quality childcare program.

You will successfully- Provide supervision to the childcare assistant and any reliever or students that may also do their placement in the childcare room.- Design, develop and implement a childcare program that suits the needs, interests and developmental stages of the children in the room.- Ensure appropriate child/staff ratios are always maintained- Interact with the children according to their ages and developmental needs- Administration, fees monitoring and record keeping

This is a casual position based in Ballarat, VIC. Salary and conditions are in accordance with SCHADS Family Day Care Award Level 3.

What you have- Diploma of Children’s Services- Up to date First Aid and Anaphylaxis qualifications- Substantial human service management skills. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the childcare education and care service field and experience in managing is preferred- Demonstrated working knowledge of all licensing and legislation relating to the provision of Children’s Services. Demonstrated working knowledge of and commitment to the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics- High standard of administration skills to ensure policy manual is kept up to date, children records are accurate, and fees are paid and recorded- Acknowledgement and responsiveness to diversity of experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs- A current Victorian Drivers Licence- Be able to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
